In scope:

Create a collaborative relationship with smaller institutions in the North and Interior regions of BC. Establish an open education network/infrastructure for smaller institutions. Build up capacity for open education.

Out of scope:

Multiple phases of development that meet multiple user needs. BCcampus hosting services for long term sustainability.



Create a collaborative relationship with smaller institutions in the Interior and North regions of BC.

Assist smaller institutions in the North and Interior to institutionalize open education.

Promote awareness of open education and increase access to less-served institutions.

Provide focused support to smaller institutions in the North and Interior to implement and institutionalize use of Open Education (OER)

  • Determine appropriate supports required
  • Develop knowledge of institutional cultures across the Province
  • Build OER expertise, leadership within institutions
  • Establish technical infrastructure to use and convert to OER
Target audience are small institutions in the specified regions. Includes administration, faculty, staff, and students at the institutions.

Interior: Selkirk College, Okanagan College, UBC-O, NVIT, TRU

  • In addition, requirements exceed the scope of the project
  • Another identified risk is limited engagement and collaborative development processes
  • Collaborate with smaller institutions in the North and Interior regions
  • All material created for this project will have a Creative Commons licenses.
  • All material created for this project will be openly shared for other jurisdictions, institutions, faculty and students to use.

Overall budget is $450,000.00 including all administrative fees and staffing costs.
