Terms of Reference


The Open Education Advisory Board will provide advice on the direction of Open Education initiatives in British Columbia, pertaining to the the following programs:

  1. Open Source Homework System
  2. Zero Textbook Costs Programs in Business, Trades, ECE, Health, STEM
  3. Research
  4. Improved Search ability of OER to improve adoptions
  5. Teaching and Learning Capacity
  6. Regional Representative Programs

The Open Education Advisory Board will advise on:

  • Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) program areas and needs
  • Enabling system engagement
  • Consultation and engagement opportunities re: Open Source Homework Systems
  • Call for Proposals and Processes
  • System wide sustainability

Membership and term of appointment 

Members will be self-nominated from the public post-secondary system and government, ideally with representation from Universities, Institutes, Colleges, students, and Government. Consideration is giving to members who represent the various regions and sectors in BC's post secondary system.

Appointments are two years.

Members are asked to attend one face to face meeting a year in Vancouver and meet virtually twice a year.
